The Salad Chef is a versatile salad making system (looks like a salad bowl with different lids and inserts) that functions as a food chopper (dices, slices, chops, juliennes, shreds and grates), lettuce spinner, strainer, storage container and serving bowl.
I bought two salad chefs from livingsocial.com. One for myself and the other for a gift. I had no problems with the price or any hidden fees. When they arrived, I opened my box and have loved using the product. I found it to be well made, works great and love the fact that it stacks together easily. The blades are extremly sharp and have nicked my fingers twice on them. The second Salad Chef was missing the smaller chopping blades. The note said to go to the online store at www.saladchefkit.com. The link is no good, but doing a google search, I have found this site, along with many others regarding this product. I have the phone number to call about the missing part:1-800-518-2292 amd hope I can get the new blade.

I posted this on another site and saw this site and decided to post it here because everyone should know this.
I purchased the salad chef over a year ago and really like it. about 3 weeks ago I made vegetable soup and potatoes soup for family that was coming for dinner. I had chopped everything for the vegetable soup and most of the potatoes and onions for the potatoe soup when I noticed one fo the blades from the small grate missing. This terrified me because I didn’t know which soup the blade was in or had it been broken previously. I decided to look in the first pan of soup that I made. I took all of the vegetables out and strained the liquid. There was a little amount left in the pan and I search the pan moving around what was left in the pan and I heard a scrape. I found it!
I will not use a salad chef again. What would have happened it I had not noticed that blade missing? I panic just thinking about it. It could have cut someones mouth or went on down the throat and killed someone.
I could not find a number to notify the company so I am posting this message on this site as a warning. This could happen to anyone if it hasn’t already.

The product in USA with P&P is less than $50. I phoned on several occasions and got into a heated argument as I wanted to purchase it but not at the ridiculous price they were offering it. Two payments of $49.95 plus $19.95 P&P. And I could have bought it at Amazon.com for under $40 with P&P if there was no exclusivety added. If it's not an Australian or New Zealand product, with globalization we should have the choice and not allow a company have exclusive. But I suppose with their ads constantly bombarding nine television stations, they need the money desperately for us to buy. I will do my veges the way I have done for forty years, knife and chopping board.

I just bought the Salad Chef on clearance sale at a local Drugstore for just $9.00 plus tax. When I got it home and inspected it, I found the instructions which stated that if there were items listed in the recipe book which might not be included with your purchase, you could go to url:www.saladchefkit.com and order them. So I did, and the page doesn't exist anymore. But I found the manufacturer's website, and for the lack of anything else there at the site, I called the customer service desk. You won't believe it, but the phone operator, who treated me very politely, told me that she would send me the items that I needed (2 spinning baskets & Lid, and 3 additional cutting blades,) and all it would cost me was $4.50 shipping. So I went ahead and ordered it. I hope that I don't get a rude surprise from my credit union, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

i had seen this product on tv but was put off by price and large shipping and handling i found one at a local grocer for 27.99 salad spinner part not included although with first use i did also cut a finger i didnt care because i had been using a similar product the name fails me now that was smaller and wore it out nothing like cutting a whole bag of carrots at once freezeing some useing some i make more salad now. the part that i like the best is the insert that pushes out all the pieces for cleaning. this was not on the other unit thing i used and i hated cleaning it took forever and everything did not come loose in the dishwasher this does so im a big tumbs up even with a bandaid on one. I would like to purchase more bowls and lids where can i do this there was a web site on the box but ihave since reyceled it and do not remember it thanks to anyone who can help happy salad making

I ordered one salad chef through the phone and it was very confusing. I only ordered one and they sent me two. There was no paperwork in the box. I sent it back UPS and was charged ten dollars and change. They charged my credit card $132.50. I have called three times because the only refunded me $44.85. They also would never let me speak to a supervisor. So now that means I paid more for the shipping and handling than I did for the product. They say they cannot reimburse for shipping and handling which I thought was only $9.95. I have made a complaint with the BBB. I hope they go out of business because they truly are just ripping people off. I have never done business before with such a company.

Do Not Purchase Directly From This Company &/or Infomercial. Their method of ordering borders on criminal. I went online on a Sunday evening, went through ordering process, chose NOT to add the various extras they try to tack on, but still managed to get ripped off. YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE TOTAL PRICE UNTIL YOUR CREDIT CARD IS CHARGED. I realized this was happening and had a bad feeling, but stupidly went ahead. Was horrified when the grand total came to almost $100. They charged me for items that were supposed to be free, and the shipping charges were ASTRONOMICAL. I immediately tried to backtrack and cancel my order, but telephoned right away when I saw it couldn't be cancelled online. The instructions I got on Sunday evening were to call during business hours. I called at 9am next morning and was told the order had already shipped. It hadn't, of course, but I was told there was nothing I could do except refuse delivery. Luckily was home when our mail carrier tried to deliver. She took it right back -- it never even crossed the threshold to my house. My "refund" from Salad Chef was for the $49 ONLY. They wouldn't refund the shipping, even though there was no way to cancel this order. What a way to do business!!! I depended on my credit card (Citibank) to refund my money. Luckily they gave me back the full refund, and I assume they are going after Salad Chef for reimbursement. ONLY BUY THIS IN STORE IN PERSON!!

Product works great. No doubts about that. But buying this product online sucks big time. SHAME SHAME SHAME On SALAD CHEF company and customer service. As already a lot of people before me mentioned, the product thats supposed to cost 40 and odd ends up as a close to 100 buck hole in your account. The website or the ph line do not ask you for a confirm transaction before it gets submitted. When you call to cancel, the reps tell you to call back in 2 days as does their customer service website. I called early next morning, but was told that it has already been put on the truck for delivery and there is no way to stop it. Only way out would be to see what happens when I refuse the package and send it back!!! Never felt soooooo cheated and frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got mine at B.J.'s wholesalers...The box clearly states what you are getting and I paid $35 for the salad bowl, cutter lid, another lid to cover the bowl, 2 dicer/cutters and the grater. I want the slicer also so will try Bed, Bath, etc.I did knick my finger but the pieces are marked which side is up, sharp, etc. I like this a lot, use a variety of veggies as I am on a weight loss program. I even used it to dice up some left over meat and it did the job. I am sorry people got ripped off so bad. It is a time saving device. I want the slicer blade but wonder about going online since the reviews for that process are fair warning.

My mom ordered ONE from the infomercial. She received SIX. There was NO bill included in the 2 boxes that were delivered. No company name. Only a return address. She got her credit card bill - nearly $400 in charges from this company. She could not find any contact information for the company. I finally found how to get ahold of Salad Chef. Spoke with Jamie and she tried to tell me that my mom ordered 5 of these along with BOGO bowls and BOGO blades. I disputed this greatly. Then Jamie tells me that there were 3 boxes shipped and couldn't find the tracking info on the 3rd box. (hmm - now we're missing a box). Jamie offered to refund HALF of the postage and handling fees and allow my mom to ship the extras back at no cost. Really??? Your company sent 6 to her, charged her hundreds of $$, and you will be gracious enough to refund HALF??? Told her that I wanted all business information as I was calling the BBB, FTC, and my mom's lawyer. She immediately put me through to her supervisor, who was extremely rude (Sharisse). She tried to tell me that it had been more than 30 days, but I rebutted that there was NO billing or contact info included. She said that information comes seperately ! (Oh, how convenient to suck up the 30 day window). They are only going to refund HALF the postage and handling. I requested all business contact information from her as I advised her that I would be calling BBB, FTC, lawyer and my mom's credit card company. She was unphased.

I agree 100% with the reports of dismal ordering experience!!!!! BUT I LOVE the product! I do hate making salad, but now it's fun and soooooo quick. If you can buy this somewhere other than from the infomercial, give it a try...you may love it as much as I do. It is solid and I can "beat on it" to chop difficult things and don't feel it will break. I also agree it does appear to come with the salad spinner. Now that I know I can get it at bb and beyond, I will go there to get the spinner.

The infomercial alone is enough proof to stay away. Did those apples get peeled and cored all by themselves?? How about the red, yellow, and green peppers? They de-seeded and de-pith'ed themselves too huh? These hosts kill me with their deceptive garbage. Just watch what they're doing, it's all a lot of fast talk. They announce the spinner up front making the viewer think it's included, it's not; there's fine print near the end of the infomercial that says "sold separately". I must find these infomercials entertaining for some reason, even though they severely insult my intelligence.

This is a good product BUT all of these post had to be written by Salad Chef....it is not worth $200.00 may experience was horrendous ....I tried to order one and when my order was complete They had me down for three and all sorts of extras The customer service sucks but when I did get thou I was told I could get the buy one get one free so I said ok ARE YOU SURE....OH YEAH....got the order quickly and guess what I got one with and extra blade that I did not want just got off the phone after a long wait and was told there is no such thing as a buy one get one. I am feeling quite foolish for not researching before placing my online order. Very confusing and misleading. I ended up ordering more than intended and immediately called to correct. I was told to wait til the next day, as they hadn't received my information yet. I called the next day and was told it had already shipped and I could return the unwanted items when they arrived and that I would be credited sans s&h, which was as much as each item costs anyway! Not happy and feeling duped. Hope the damn thing at leasts works!

I went online to purchase the Salad Chef. I had to go through a maze of offers and kept clicking NO on every one. Finally when I arrived at my receipt, I saw that I was charged for extra blades that I DID NOT order. I attempted to call customer service and after a series of prompts, of course, they were not available. I tried checking the status of the order, I kept getting the message "No such order"! ARRGHHH!!! Finally, I called my credit card company and had my number changed to stop the transaction from going through! A bit of a headache but a necessary step to combat misleading and cheating companies that think they can actually get away with this kind of fraud. My advise is this: DO NOT order the Salad Chef online or by phone. No matter the quality of the product, the company is a rip off! If you really need to have it, get it in a store. I should have done that myself!

I got emails saying my order was shipped. I entered the tracking number supplied and got a page detailing that it was shipped FedEx to my local Post Office, arriving there @ 6:35 Am and delivered to recipient @ 3:59 Pm. I have seen neither the package, a note stating it is at my local PO, or a key to open the big package mailbox. ???? If it is not at the PO on Monday, I will go to my bank and request stop payment if possible. Then go to Bed Bath Beyond!!

All - thanks for the candid reviews. I was in the process of placing an order via phone and stopped to take a look at the reviews. So I'm heading to BBY and appreciate the heads up.
On another note...kudos to the customer who received a refund after the excessive charges were placed. But what about those who just bite the bullet, sweep it under the rug, or call it a lost? There are options available to you as well, but like she did, you must have access...even for simple things like $110 for plasticware or never receiving the product. The company I work for helps people to do just that with access to your rights and even protection from identity theft! Let me know if you want to know more...I use it all the time and will gladly share what I know.

i ordered by phone which you dont get a real person and i pushed wrong number for my 3 diget card number so i did not even finish my order, i thought it would not go through being i put in wrong number.i did not even get to the part of them asking how many i wanted. 1 week later i got 5 salad chefs in 1 big box! of course i called and they said that is how many i ordered, and to send them back i have to pay for shipping and who knows if they will credit my charge. i learned a huge lesson not to order from tv ads.

I called and ordered the Salad Chef and believe it is a very good product; however, when I called to order, I ended up hanging up because I got so aggravated I wished I'd never called. You can't just call and order the Salad Chef, you have to listen to 18 (no joke) additional commercials. They need an opt out prompt after you've ordered what you want. I will never order from Salad Chef online again.

If you like Salad Chef, do not buy over the internet. Buy from bed/bath/ beyond and be sure to use the 20% off coupon, you will save $8.00 off the $39.99 price. The negative is, it does not come with a salad spinner as the commercial leads you to believe, otherwise I like it.

I used my salad chef after purchasing it at Bed, Bath and Beyond - at least no shipping charge nightmares. However, I thought there was a mistake as I didn't get the salad spinner as the infomercial leads you to believe. I like the way it chops, etc. - but wished it had a way to shop smaller as well as slice. I'm still trying to decide if it is worth the $40 I paid. It is a pretty solid and well built - just don't like the deceptive marketing practices they use.

I had my card number changed and it will never be used to order from an infomercial again. Quite an expensive lesson. Someone put 262 796-2467 on a review as Saladchef's number. I believe 262 is the area code for the Milwaukee suburban area..

Went on the website and was going to order until I saw all the extra's, every time I said no, another one came on. Knew this was trouble so I left web site, asked if I was sure I wanted to leave, said yes. No final order page, no confirmation. Four days later I get a confirmation # and shipping notice I called and said I never completed my order, thus I did not authorize the purchase. I was told I did place the order .Was told to refuse the package and I would be issued a refund, EXCEPT for the $19.90 shipping. I called and stopped payment on my charge. package came the next day, so did an e-mail from my credit card company saying they have credited my account and will debate the purchase with this company. DO NOT PLACE AN ORDER WITH THEM! If you must have this go to Bed Bath & Beyond and use a coupon! This is nothing but a rip off web site.

I got mine from QVC. After ordering it arrived about 4 days later. I have made 5 salads with the unit. Chopping iceburg lettuce was the hardest to manage. Firmer items worked ok. I made the salads in faster time than it took to get the veggies out of the fridge and put them back. I have not done fruit salad but I believe it will do a great job. I also own the onion dicer chopper. For what's its designed to do it's ok and I would give it a 3 it is harder to clean up. But, all in all there's no perfect world.

If it ever breaks I take it back and get another one or my money back.
In writing reviews it may be the competition doing this, who knows. All I can say I am pleased with mine and wish I could get extra bowls to store my fruit salad in.

The commercials make this product look amazing!... but... IT ISN'T!!!! It is a waste of money, a waste of time, and it isn't made that great either. I made a salad on Monday, I used the "handy dandy saver lid" because the commercial said it will stay fresh for DAYS... I opened it up this morning (Thursday) to take some salad to work with me and it was SOGGY (no dressing was added to it) and all BROWN!!! Definitely didn't stay fresh. And did I mention the shipping charges were outrageous!??!?!?! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!!!

When ordering through website it pop-up offering. I accepted offers for the blade and spinner thinking it would give me an order total and a chance to modify my order. It did not. I set up for two payments my first payment would of been for 111.55 and then second payment of 19.95. Not a budget friendly plan. The shipping charges are outrages. You don't have the option to call and cancel your order right away. You have to wait two days before they have your info. Called the bank and ended up canceling my card. I'm sure this was a good product. Amazon does not carry this product, but they do have similar products. As for Bed Bath & Beyond I'm out of luck because there isn't one in my area. Moral of the story read reviews first.

I ordered the Salad Chef with a couple extras - I expected to pay the 2 payments that were advertised. I didn't expect the "extra fees" would triple the charges to my account plus the reoccurring charges . After researching my options and getting absolutely no help from the company directly I called my lawyer and explained the situation. After faxing the documents that I received with my order my lawyer told me that she would get back with me. I got an email explaining that I should be getting a refund. Two days later I had a deposit directly to my checking account for the monthly fee they charged plus the fees charged for handling and I haven't seen another monthly fee show up. I will never order again from an infomercial.

I have never seen the Infomercial for the Salad Chef until after I purchased one from Bed Bath and Beyond. I have a 'slam type' chopper for onions that I like, but it is kind of small the cutting blades area is also small. I saw the Salad Chef in the box and I bought it. When I got it home, I used it and I love it, however I was disappointed that it did not come as a complete set. I really like the design and it is much easier to clean since it has a 'Groove plunger' to push out the particles from the back. I would like to find more blades dicing like either a 1/4" and maybe even a 1/8" if they have them, and a longer slicing blade for eggs, mushrooms or strawberries, and the spinners. I have looked on line but do not find where I can purchase the rest of the system. I have not called the phone # from the infomercial yet for fear of being put on the 'suckers list'. If I have to, I would buy a prepaid credit card to place an order to avoid hidden charges.
For me, it is well worth the price, but not the extra charges. If there is anyone that has purchased the whole package and just wants to get their money back, I will buy it from you just send me an email at jbooth@webmd.net.

I thought this prouduct looked like something I would use. I had had a salad spinner in the past, and wanted to replace it. This was comparable in price to what a spinner alone would cost.
The spinner and basket are sold for an extra $14.95 plus $7.95 shipping. A bonus "free" blade has a $10.00 shipping cost. They make their real money off shipping charges.
Each item is shown on a separate page. You then decide if you want that item. As I went through each item, I realized very little came with the Salad Chef.
When I tried to go back a page, to cancel the spinner, on my order, it totalled my order, and charged my card.. There was an estimated charge for $83.00 and a confirmation number. I was shocked.
I was not going to enter this order. There was no page to review and no submit button. It automatically ordered for me.
I immediately called my credit card company, and they advised me to cancel my card.
They get your card information up front. I won't be fooled again..
I called the Salad Chef Company the next morning, and they were very nice about canceling my order. Of course, I told them I had contacted my credit card company.

I purchased the Salad Chef today at Bed Bath & Beyond for less than $34.00 with taxes because I had a 20% off coupon. The box contains two cutting inserts (1" cut & 1/2" cut); grater; 1 cutting lid; 1 bowl holds 19 cups; 1 fresh-keeping lid and 1 recipe book. I haven’t used it yet, so I cannot write a review on whether it works as well as they claim in the infomercial. Buy it at a store so you won’t be charged shipping and handling fees on the supposedly free items.

I am well aware that infomercials throw in a lot of supposedly free items and charge us for them with the additional shipping and handling fees. After reading all of the negative reviews on this website posted by individuals that purchased the Salad Chef from the company, over charges, poor customer service, etc., I decided to call Bed Bath & Beyond. They already have The Salad Chef in stock! I work less than two miles from the store and asked them to hold one for me, and I will pick it up tomorrow. The Sales Associate said it has several blades and the cost is $39.95. This does not include a free salad spinner which I did not need anyway because I already have one. Since I have a Bed Bath & Beyond 20% off coupon I will not pay the full price. Stay tuned for my review on the actual product.

I used their automated system for 1 easy payment of $49.94 which includes shipping. Surprise, surprise, they debited my account $119.74. Of course customer service is not authorized to refund the amount on the incorrect order because they say "the order states you ordered 2" and of course no supervisor is available. Now after 6 days of customer service calls, they say they will review the automated tapes. This will take 3-4 weeks. So what about the 30-day refund policy? The time to review the tapes will exceed this 30-day yet no one is willing to put in writing they will extend this time. They really know how to get you and debit more from your account. I would never order anything from this company and suggest no one else does either! Only one customer service rep was nice, all others were very rude and not willing to help.....

The salad chef recipe book uses the metric system to identify all measurements which means that one has to transpose grams to ounces, etc. Service Representative was very curt and reminded me of the old addage "Buyer Beware". All the free bonus stuff is really not free all --- you are charged separately for each item which means a $39.95 purchase becomes $82.70. due to handling and shipping charges of each additional item that is mailed in one box. The company should be reviewed for its practices, although the operator very sternly told me that I should have listened to the additonal costs that are contained within the informercial. Just placing the order was a "feat" since you are bombarded with all the additional offers that literally being hurled at you as you attempt to finalize the purchase and you are "no, no, no".

While trying to order the salad chef on January 15, 2011, I realized during the order that they were trying to too many other bits and pieces were being added to the order, increasing what the final price would be. Before the order was complete I requested that the order be cancelled and that nothing be charged to my account. That was not done. Salad chef shipped the product which I requested be cancelled during to order and charge $173.55 to my account. I refused the product and is having trouble getting my money back. Shame on you SALAD CHEF order and customer service departments.

At least that's what they say about themselves. A week after I ordered I got a call from some artist who said I would get $100 free gas and other great coupons. When it arrived with Salad Chef, if I didn't want the service I could cancel but keep the free $100 gasoline coupon. I said No, no, no! Do NOT charge my card, I want nothing to do with your company. A few days later my account was charged $24.95. I had to cancel my account because the same charge would pop up on a monthly basis. Pissed? You bet!
Then I get the Salad Chef -- minus the baskets and spin top. I called to get it shipped but was informed those items were a separate "special purchase" plus shipping charges. If you look at all of the advertisements on TV and internet, nothing gives the impression those items have to be purchased separately. You can expect the rep to reply: Oh, sir. I am soooo sorry for the misunderstanding." Sure you are. I can certainly send it back for a full refund, minus service and shipping charges. That means I'd get $19.00 and change as a refund. Now remember, I spent $49.00 for some blade cutters, not a salad spinner. Then the sister rip-off company got me for $24.95. $75.00 for two blade cutters. Wow! I could have gone to Bed Bath & Beyond and bought the same items for $15.00. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! tARGET WILL HAVE IT IN A FEW MONTHS FOR ABOUT $20 TO $25. Really, really pissed!

I did place my order about a month ago. I did get billed a month later and receive it shortly - in one good size box (inside there was 3 boxes) for what I ordered. I thought that it was going to be shipped separately - they know how to get you on shipping and handling!! Of course there were other extra products that they want you to buy. I bought the Spinner/chopper.Sounds intriguing. Got sucked in buying it. I haven't used my Salad Chef just yet. It looks and feels like a good quality product. I do have a question---- is it made in China or Germany? How long is the warranty good for? I can't recall if they have one or not! Yes, I was patient. Didn't want to sweat the small stuff. What I like about the product - its compact, convenient. Its like having a product all-in-one.

The shipping charge was $27.85, for the 3 items that I ordered. When item was delivered in 1 box I was pretty upset since I paid shipping price for 3 items. I feel that the price was way to high and the box was very light and oversized box which was feel mostly with paper. They should reduce the shipping and put items in a smaller box for mailing. I have not used the Salad Chef as yet as I just received the item yesterday but I was very upset regarding the over payment of shipping.

Ordering process is insanely bad. I have waited weeks for the product already. An automated system calls me 3x per week to tell me they need my address to ship to. I have called customer service 2x. Both times they tell me the do not need my address and that they have no idea when the product will ship because it is backordered. Hopefully the product will be worth the wait.

I agree the ordering process is not efficient - and I too saw the additional $39 charge on my card. Apparently you do not get the second grid with the order, you only get the very large grid, which cuts things into very large pieces. I called and spoke with someone and did nothave trouble getting through. SHe was very helpful. But this was weeks ago and I still havent' rec'd my order, like the other customers reported. They really should have let us know that there will be a long delay for reciept of the product.

When you place your order online, you get an email confirmation with your order number. Also there is a link at the bottom to go to Customer Service where you can check your order status. There is also another link below that where you can contact them. The number is 262-796-2467. I havent received mine either since the day I ordered it which was 12/27 but I figure, if they're backordered it must be because its a really good product and they didnt think that the demand was so high for it. Be patient people. I know I have to be.

Salad Chef- Terrible ordering process. I placed an order at the end of October 29 and was billed December 29th. I was never notified that there was a back order. Nor did I know the would hold my credit card information. There was also a mistake in the system were the tried to bill me additional $39. There is never a manger available when you call customer service and my order was not scheduled to arrive until the middle of January. I can't comment on the product, but its not worth them holding your credit card information for months and offer no compensation such as a express delivery.

I bought two salad chefs from livingsocial.com. One for myself and the other for a gift. I had no problems with the price or any hidden fees. When they arrived, I opened my box and have loved using the product. I found it to be well made, works great and love the fact that it stacks together easily. The blades are extremly sharp and have nicked my fingers twice on them. The second Salad Chef was missing the smaller chopping blades. The note said to go to the online store at www.saladchefkit.com. The link is no good, but doing a google search, I have found this site, along with many others regarding this product. I have the phone number to call about the missing part:1-800-518-2292 amd hope I can get the new blade.

I posted this on another site and saw this site and decided to post it here because everyone should know this.
I purchased the salad chef over a year ago and really like it. about 3 weeks ago I made vegetable soup and potatoes soup for family that was coming for dinner. I had chopped everything for the vegetable soup and most of the potatoes and onions for the potatoe soup when I noticed one fo the blades from the small grate missing. This terrified me because I didn’t know which soup the blade was in or had it been broken previously. I decided to look in the first pan of soup that I made. I took all of the vegetables out and strained the liquid. There was a little amount left in the pan and I search the pan moving around what was left in the pan and I heard a scrape. I found it!
I will not use a salad chef again. What would have happened it I had not noticed that blade missing? I panic just thinking about it. It could have cut someones mouth or went on down the throat and killed someone.
I could not find a number to notify the company so I am posting this message on this site as a warning. This could happen to anyone if it hasn’t already.

The product in USA with P&P is less than $50. I phoned on several occasions and got into a heated argument as I wanted to purchase it but not at the ridiculous price they were offering it. Two payments of $49.95 plus $19.95 P&P. And I could have bought it at Amazon.com for under $40 with P&P if there was no exclusivety added. If it's not an Australian or New Zealand product, with globalization we should have the choice and not allow a company have exclusive. But I suppose with their ads constantly bombarding nine television stations, they need the money desperately for us to buy. I just bought the Salad Chef on clearance sale at a local Drugstore for just $9.00 plus tax. When I got it home and inspected it, I found the instructions which stated that if there were items listed in the recipe book which might not be included with your purchase, you could go to url:www.saladchefkit.com and order them. So I did, and the page doesn't exist anymore. But I found the manufacturer's website, and for the lack of anything else there at the site, I called the customer service desk. You won't believe it, but the phone operator, who treated me very politely, told me that she would send me the items that I needed (2 spinning baskets & Lid, and 3 additional cutting blades,) and all it would cost me was $4.50 shipping. So I went ahead and ordered it. I hope that I don't get a rude surprise from my credit union, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

i had seen this product on tv but was put off by price and large shipping and handling i found one at a local grocer for 27.99 salad spinner part not included although with first use i did also cut a finger i didnt care because i had been using a similar product the name fails me now that was smaller and wore it out nothing like cutting a whole bag of carrots at once freezeing some useing some i make more salad now. the part that i like the best is the insert that pushes out all the pieces for cleaning. this was not on the other unit thing i used and i hated cleaning it took forever and everything did not come loose in the dishwasher this does so im a big tumbs up even with a bandaid on one. I would like to purchase more bowls and lids where can i do this there was a web site on the box but ihave since reyceled it and do not remember it thanks to anyone who can help happy salad making

I ordered one salad chef through the phone and it was very confusing. I only ordered one and they sent me two. There was no paperwork in the box. I sent it back UPS and was charged ten dollars and change. They charged my credit card $132.50. I have called three times because the only refunded me $44.85. They also would never let me speak to a supervisor. So now that means I paid more for the shipping and handling than I did for the product. They say they cannot reimburse for shipping and handling which I thought was only $9.95. I have made a complaint with the BBB. I hope they go out of business because they truly are just ripping people off. I have never done business before with such a company.

Do Not Purchase Directly From This Company &/or Infomercial. Their method of ordering borders on criminal. I went online on a Sunday evening, went through ordering process, chose NOT to add the various extras they try to tack on, but still managed to get ripped off. YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE TOTAL PRICE UNTIL YOUR CREDIT CARD IS CHARGED. I realized this was happening and had a bad feeling, but stupidly went ahead. Was horrified when the grand total came to almost $100. They charged me for items that were supposed to be free, and the shipping charges were ASTRONOMICAL. I immediately tried to backtrack and cancel my order, but telephoned right away when I saw it couldn't be cancelled online. The instructions I got on Sunday evening were to call during business hours. I called at 9am next morning and was told the order had already shipped. It hadn't, of course, but I was told there was nothing I could do except refuse delivery. Luckily was home when our mail carrier tried to deliver. She took it right back -- it never even crossed the threshold to my house. My "refund" from Salad Chef was for the $49 ONLY. They wouldn't refund the shipping, even though there was no way to cancel this order. What a way to do business!!! I depended on my credit card (Citibank) to refund my money. Luckily they gave me back the full refund, and I assume they are going after Salad Chef for reimbursement. ONLY BUY THIS IN STORE IN PERSON!!

The product would be great - if I could use it!!!! Mine broke the first time I put it into the dishwasher. I have called customer service?????? several times. They are totally inept. I requested a replacement 9 weeks ago, then again 5 weeks ago. NOW I find out I could have bought one at B,B and Beyond. This is not worth the hassle.

Product works great. No doubts about that. But buying this product online sucks big time. SHAME SHAME SHAME On SALAD CHEF company and customer service. As already a lot of people before me mentioned, the product thats supposed to cost 40 and odd ends up as a close to 100 buck hole in your account. The website or the ph line do not ask you for a confirm transaction before it gets submitted. When you call to cancel, the reps tell you to call back in 2 days as does their customer service website. I called early next morning, but was told that it has already been put on the truck for delivery and there is no way to stop it. Only way out would be to see what happens when I refuse the package and send it back!!! Never felt soooooo cheated and frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got mine at B.J.'s wholesalers...The box clearly states what you are getting and I paid $35 for the salad bowl, cutter lid, another lid to cover the bowl, 2 dicer/cutters and the grater. I want the slicer also so will try Bed, Bath, etc.I did knick my finger but the pieces are marked which side is up, sharp, etc. I like this a lot, use a variety of veggies as I am on a weight loss program. I even used it to dice up some left over meat and it did the job. I am sorry people got ripped off so bad. It is a time saving device. I want the slicer blade but wonder about going online since the reviews for that process are fair warning.

My mom ordered ONE from the infomercial. She received SIX. There was NO bill included in the 2 boxes that were delivered. No company name. Only a return address. She got her credit card bill - nearly $400 in charges from this company. She could not find any contact information for the company. I finally found how to get ahold of Salad Chef. Spoke with Jamie and she tried to tell me that my mom ordered 5 of these along with BOGO bowls and BOGO blades. I disputed this greatly. Then Jamie tells me that there were 3 boxes shipped and couldn't find the tracking info on the 3rd box. (hmm - now we're missing a box). Jamie offered to refund HALF of the postage and handling fees and allow my mom to ship the extras back at no cost. Really??? Your company sent 6 to her, charged her hundreds of $$, and you will be gracious enough to refund HALF??? Told her that I wanted all business information as I was calling the BBB, FTC, and my mom's lawyer. She immediately put me through to her supervisor, who was extremely rude (Sharisse). She tried to tell me that it had been more than 30 days, but I rebutted that there was NO billing or contact info included. She said that information comes seperately ! (Oh, how convenient to suck up the 30 day window). They are only going to refund HALF the postage and handling. I requested all business contact information from her as I advised her that I would be calling BBB, FTC, lawyer and my mom's credit card company. She was unphased. WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP!!!!!

I agree 100% with the reports of dismal ordering experience!!!!! BUT I LOVE the product! I do hate making salad, but now it's fun and soooooo quick. If you can buy this somewhere other than from the infomercial, give it a try...you may love it as much as I do. It is solid and I can "beat on it" to chop difficult things and don't feel it will break. I also agree it does appear to come with the salad spinner. Now that I know I can get it at bb and beyond, I will go there to get the spinner.

Chef salad : i just to let know everybody the money these people from chef salad stole from my bank , in first place , the first payment they left my bank acct in 0.00 balance , they took right away 198.34 all I had at thst moment . I ordered one set, and at the end they said I ordered more just like every one complai ning then they took another additional 39.99 making a total of $124.40 , they told me they will refund me the whole amount if when I received the merchandise to. return it without opening , thats what I did I not even open the box . So after waiting several weeks i emded Up receiving $104.00 . Why if they took more than twice .Im gonna see my lawyer so he can send them a letter.I hope i get my money back. The infomercial alone is enough proof to stay away. Did those apples get peeled and cored all by themselves?? How about the red, yellow, and green peppers? They de-seeded and de-pith'ed themselves too huh? These hosts kill me with their deceptive garbage. Just watch what they're doing, it's all a lot of fast talk. They announce the spinner up front making the viewer think it's included, it's not; there's fine print near the end of the infomercial that says "sold separately". I must find these infomercials entertaining for some reason, even though they severely insult my intelligence.

This is a good product BUT all of these post had to be written by Salad Chef....it is not worth $200.00 may experience was horrendous ....I tried to order one and when my order was complete They had me down for three and all sorts of extras The customer service sucks but when I did get thou I was told I could get the buy one get one free so I said ok ARE YOU SURE....OH YEAH....got the order quickly and guess what I got one with and extra blade that I did not want just got off the phone after a long wait and was told there is no such thing as a buy one get one. I am feeling quite foolish for not researching before placing my online order. Very confusing and misleading. I ended up ordering more than intended and immediately called to correct. I was told to wait til the next day, as they hadn't received my information yet. I called the next day and was told it had already shipped and I could return the unwanted items when they arrived and that I would be credited sans s&h, which was as much as each item costs anyway! Not happy and feeling duped. Hope the damn thing at leasts works!

I went online to purchase the Salad Chef. I had to go through a maze of offers and kept clicking NO on every one. Finally when I arrived at my receipt, I saw that I was charged for extra blades that I DID NOT order. I attempted to call customer service and after a series of prompts, of course, they were not available. I tried checking the status of the order, I kept getting the message "No such order"! ARRGHHH!!! Finally, I called my credit card company and had my number changed to stop the transaction from going through! A bit of a headache but a necessary step to combat misleading and cheating companies that think they can actually get away with this kind of fraud. My advise is this: DO NOT order the Salad Chef online or by phone. No matter the quality of the product, the company is a rip off! If you really need to have it, get it in a store. I should have done that myself!

I got emails saying my order was shipped. I entered the tracking number supplied and got a page detailing that it was shipped FedEx to my local Post Office, arriving there @ 6:35 Am and delivered to recipient @ 3:59 Pm. I have seen neither the package, a note stating it is at my local PO, or a key to open the big package mailbox. ???? If it is not at the PO on Monday, I will go to my bank and request stop payment if possible. Then go to Bed Bath Beyond!!

All - thanks for the candid reviews. I was in the process of placing an order via phone and stopped to take a look at the reviews. So I'm heading to BBY and appreciate the heads up. On another note...kudos to the customer who received a refund after the excessive charges were placed. But what about those who just bite the bullet, sweep it under the rug, or call it a lost? There are options available to you as well, but like she did, you must have access...even for simple things like $110 for plasticware or never receiving the product. The company I work for helps people to do just that with access to your rights and even protection from identity theft! Let me know if you want to know more...I use it all the time and will gladly share what I know.

i ordered by phone which you dont get a real person and i pushed wrong number for my 3 diget card number so i did not even finish my order, i thought it would not go through being i put in wrong number.i did not even get to the part of them asking how many i wanted. 1 week later i got 5 salad chefs in 1 big box! of course i called and they said that is how many i ordered, and to send them back i have to pay for shipping and who knows if they will credit my charge. i learned a huge lesson not to order from tv ads.

I called and ordered the Salad Chef and believe it is a very good product; however, when I called to order, I ended up hanging up because I got so aggravated I wished I'd never called. You can't just call and order the Salad Chef, you have to listen to 18 (no joke) additional commercials. They need an opt out prompt after you've ordered what you want. I will never order from Salad Chef online again.

I used my salad chef after purchasing it at Bed, Bath and Beyond - at least no shipping charge nightmares. However, I thought there was a mistake as I didn't get the salad spinner as the infomercial leads you to believe. I like the way it chops, etc. - but wished it had a way to shop smaller as well as slice. I'm still trying to decide if it is worth the $40 I paid. It is a pretty solid and well built - just don't like the deceptive marketing practices they use.

Went on the website and was going to order until I saw all the extra's, every time I said no, another one came on. Knew this was trouble so I left web site, asked if I was sure I wanted to leave, said yes. No final order page, no confirmation. Four days later I get a confirmation # and shipping notice I called and said I never completed my order, thus I did not authorize the purchase. I was told I did place the order .Was told to refuse the package and I would be issued a refund, EXCEPT for the $19.90 shipping. I called and stopped payment on my charge. package came the next day, so did an e-mail from my credit card company saying they have credited my account and will debate the purchase with this company. DO NOT PLACE AN ORDER WITH THEM! If you must have this go to Bed Bath & Beyond and use a coupon! This is nothing but a rip off web site.

I got mine from QVC. After ordering it arrived about 4 days later. I have made 5 salads with the unit. Chopping iceburg lettuce was the hardest to manage. Firmer items worked ok. I made the salads in faster time than it took to get the veggies out of the fridge and put them back. I have not done fruit salad but I believe it will do a great job. I also own the onion dicer chopper. For what's its designed to do it's ok and I would give it a 3 it is harder to clean up. But, all in all there's no perfect world.

The commercials make this product look amazing!... but... IT ISN'T!!!! It is a waste of money, a waste of time, and it isn't made that great either. I made a salad on Monday, I used the "handy dandy saver lid" because the commercial said it will stay fresh for DAYS... I opened it up this morning (Thursday) to take some salad to work with me and it was SOGGY (no dressing was added to it) and all BROWN!!! Definitely didn't stay fresh. When ordering through website it pop-up offering. I accepted offers for the blade and spinner thinking it would give me an order total and a chance to modify my order. It did not. I set up for two payments my first payment would of been for 111.55 and then second payment of 19.95. Not a budget friendly plan. The shipping charges are outrages. You don't have the option to call and cancel your order right away. You have to wait two days before they have your info. Called the bank and ended up canceling my card. I'm sure this was a good product. Amazon does not carry this product, but they do have similar products. As for Bed Bath & Beyond I'm out of luck because there isn't one in my area. Moral of the story read reviews first.

I ordered the Salad Chef with a couple extras - I expected to pay the 2 payments that were advertised. I didn't expect the "extra fees" would triple the charges to my account plus the reoccurring charges . After researching my options and getting absolutely no help from the company directly I called my lawyer and explained the situation. After faxing the documents that I received with my order my lawyer told me that she would get back with me. I got an email explaining that I should be getting a refund. Two days later I had a deposit directly to my checking account for the monthly fee they charged plus the fees charged for handling and I haven't seen another monthly fee show up. I will never order again from an infomercial.

I have never seen the Infomercial for the Salad Chef until after I purchased one from Bed Bath and Beyond. I have a 'slam type' chopper for onions that I like, but it is kind of small the cutting blades area is also small. I saw the Salad Chef in the box and I bought it. When I got it home, I used it and I love it, however I was disappointed that it did not come as a complete set. I really like the design and it is much easier to clean since it has a 'Groove plunger' to push out the particles from the back. I would like to find more blades dicing like either a 1/4" and maybe even a 1/8" if they have them, and a longer slicing blade for eggs, mushrooms or strawberries, and the spinners. I have looked on line but do not find where I can purchase the rest of the system. I have not called the phone # from the infomercial yet for fear of being put on the 'suckers list'. If I have to, I would buy a prepaid credit card to place an order to avoid hidden charges. For me, it is well worth the price, but not the extra charges. If there is anyone that has purchased the whole package and just wants to get their money back, I will buy it from you just send me an email at jbooth@webmd.net.

I thought this prouduct looked like something I would use. I had had a salad spinner in the past, and wanted to replace it. This was comparable in price to what a spinner alone would cost. The spinner and basket are sold for an extra $14.95 plus $7.95 shipping. A bonus "free" blade has a $10.00 shipping cost. They make their real money off shipping charges. Each item is shown on a separate page. You then decide if you want that item. As I went through each item, I realized very little came with the Salad Chef. When I tried to go back a page, to cancel the spinner, on my order, it totalled my order, and charged my card.. There was an estimated charge for $83.00 and a confirmation number. I was shocked. I was not going to enter this order. There was no page to review and no submit button. It automatically ordered for me. I immediately called my credit card company, and they advised me to cancel my card. They get your card information up front. I won't be fooled again.. I called the Salad Chef Company the next morning, and they were very nice about canceling my order. Of course, I told them I had contacted my credit card company.

I purchased the Salad Chef today at Bed Bath & Beyond for less than $34.00 with taxes because I had a 20% off coupon. The box contains two cutting inserts (1" cut & 1/2" cut); grater; 1 cutting lid; 1 bowl holds 19 cups; 1 fresh-keeping lid and 1 recipe book. I haven’t used it yet, so I cannot write a review on whether it works as well as they claim in the infomercial. Buy it at a store so you won’t be charged shipping and handling fees on the supposedly free items.

I am well aware that infomercials throw in a lot of supposedly free items and charge us for them with the additional shipping and handling fees. After reading all of the negative reviews on this website posted by individuals that purchased the Salad Chef from the company, over charges, poor customer service, etc., I decided to call Bed Bath & Beyond. They already have The Salad Chef in stock! I work less than two miles from the store and asked them to hold one for me, and I will pick it up tomorrow. The Sales Associate said it has several blades and the cost is $39.95. This does not include a free salad spinner which I did not need anyway because I already have one. Since I have a Bed Bath & Beyond 20% off coupon I will not pay the full price. Stay tuned for my review on the actual product.

I used their automated system for 1 easy payment of $49.94 which includes shipping. Surprise, surprise, they debited my account $119.74. Of course customer service is not authorized to refund the amount on the incorrect order because they say "the order states you ordered 2" and of course no supervisor is available. Now after 6 days of customer service calls, they say they will review the automated tapes. This will take 3-4 weeks. So what about the 30-day refund policy? The time to review the tapes will exceed this 30-day yet no one is willing to put in writing they will extend this time. They really know how to get you and debit more from your account. I would never order anything from this company and suggest no one else does either! Only one customer service rep was nice, all others were very rude and not willing to help.....

The salad chef recipe book uses the metric system to identify all measurements which means that one has to transpose grams to ounces, etc. Service Representative was very curt and reminded me of the old addage "Buyer Beware". All the free bonus stuff is really not free all --- you are charged separately for each item which means a $39.95 purchase becomes $82.70. due to handling and shipping charges of each additional item that is mailed in one box. The company should be reviewed for its practices, although the operator very sternly told me that I should have listened to the additonal costs that are contained within the informercial. Just placing the order was a "feat" since you are bombarded with all the additional offers that literally being hurled at you as you attempt to finalize the purchase and you are "no, no, no".

While trying to order the salad chef on January 15, 2011, I realized during the order that they were trying to too many other bits and pieces were being added to the order, increasing what the final price would be. Before the order was complete I requested that the order be cancelled and that nothing be charged to my account. That was not done. Salad chef shipped the product which I requested be cancelled during to order and charge $173.55 to my account. I refused the product and is having trouble getting my money back. Shame on you SALAD CHEF order and customer service departments.

At least that's what they say about themselves. A week after I ordered I got a call from some artist who said I would get $100 free gas and other great coupons. When it arrived with Salad Chef, if I didn't want the service I could cancel but keep the free $100 gasoline coupon. I said No, no, no! Do NOT charge my card, I want nothing to do with your company. A few days later my account was charged $24.95. I had to cancel my account because the same charge would pop up on a monthly basis. Pissed? You bet! Then I get the Salad Chef -- minus the baskets and spin top. I called to get it shipped but was informed those items were a separate "special purchase" plus shipping charges. If you look at all of the advertisements on TV and internet, nothing gives the impression those items have to be purchased separately. You can expect the rep to reply: Oh, sir. I am soooo sorry for the misunderstanding." Sure you are. I can certainly send it back for a full refund, minus service and shipping charges. That means I'd get $19.00 and change as a refund. Now remember, I spent $49.00 for some blade cutters, not a salad spinner. Then the sister rip-off company got me for $24.95. $75.00 for two blade cutters. Wow! I could have gone to Bed Bath & Beyond and bought the same items for $15.00. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! tARGET WILL HAVE IT IN A FEW MONTHS FOR ABOUT $20 TO $25. Really, really pissed!

I did place my order about a month ago. I did get billed a month later and receive it shortly - in one good size box (inside there was 3 boxes) for what I ordered. I thought that it was going to be shipped separately - they know how to get you on shipping and handling!! Of course there were other extra products that they want you to buy. I bought the Spinner/chopper.Sounds intriguing. Got sucked in buying it. I haven't used my Salad Chef just yet. It looks and feels like a good quality product. I do have a question---- is it made in China or Germany? How long is the warranty good for? I can't recall if they have one or not! Yes, I was patient. Didn't want to sweat the small stuff. What I like about the product - its compact, convenient. Its like having a product all-in-one.

When the commercial leads you to believe, you are getting something you are not. You have to wonder about the quality of the product it's self. I will never buy from this company again.

Such BS!!! I ordered online so I obviously did not have a phone # to enter & when I entered my order # SHOWN ON MY EMAIL FROM THEM.... they say there is NO order with this # !! CANNOT get anyone on the phone & my order including the ridiculous shipping cost was 83.00.... WTHeck!!!!!!!!!

The shipping charge was $27.85, for the 3 items that I ordered. When item was delivered in 1 box I was pretty upset since I paid shipping price for 3 items. I feel that the price was way to high and the box was very light and oversized box which was feel mostly with paper. They should reduce the shipping and put items in a smaller box for mailing. I have not used the Salad Chef as yet as I just received the item yesterday but I was very upset regarding the over payment of shipping.

We recieved this, they originally charged us $59.80, they then refunded $19.95, but now here we are a month later and they have hit my account for another $39.85. STAY AWAY, you sit for way too long on customer service...

C'mon people, have you not learned from others mistakes? NEVER order from infomercials. Wait until it hits the super chains. I called the number just to enjoy the humor of the idiots on the other end of the phone. They up sell you and double charge. Be smart! I laugh at people who order from TV and then wonder why they are charged double, triple and don't see their order for months. The person who said, " if they're backordered it must be because its a really good product," Seriously? Are you for real? Or, are you a company spy? Folks, they are backordered because they are incompetent and probably didn't realize they would sucker so many people in on the scam. It may be a good product but wait for it to hit the stores. If you MUST HAVE IT now then you deserve what you get. All of you have a computer because you were able to leave this post. Sooooooooooooo, before you get scammed again do a little research, don't be lazy.

Ordering process is insanely bad. I have waited weeks for the product already. An automated system calls me 3x per week to tell me they need my address to ship to. I have called customer service 2x. Both times they tell me the do not need my address and that they have no idea when the product will ship because it is backordered. Hopefully the product will be worth the wait.

I agree the ordering process is not efficient - and I too saw the additional $39 charge on my card. Apparently you do not get the second grid with the order, you only get the very large grid, which cuts things into very large pieces. I called and spoke with someone and did nothave trouble getting through. SHe was very helpful. But this was weeks ago and I still havent' rec'd my order, like the other customers reported. They really should have let us know that there will be a long delay for reciept of the product.

On the TV commercial they show so many different parts that you think you are getting all of them for the 2 payments of $19.95. Come to find out you will have to spend almost $200 to get all the stuff they show on TV and they don't tell you that. What FRAUDS

When you place your order online, you get an email confirmation with your order number. Also there is a link at the bottom to go to Customer Service where you can check your order status. There is also another link below that where you can contact them. The number is 262-796-2467. I havent received mine either since the day I ordered it which was 12/27 but I figure, if they're backordered it must be because its a really good product and they didnt think that the demand was so high for it. Be patient people. I know I have to be.

Salad Chef- Terrible ordering process. I placed an order at the end of October 29 and was billed December 29th. I was never notified that there was a back order. Nor did I know the would hold my credit card information. There was also a mistake in the system were the tried to bill me additional $39. There is never a manger available when you call customer service and my order was not scheduled to arrive until the middle of January. I can't comment on the product, but its not worth them holding your credit card information for months and offer no compensation such as a express delivery.

I ordered the Salad Chef way back on 11/14/2010 and have not received it yet. It's almost Christmas now. There is no phone number or email address for me to contact the company so I suppose they will have a merry Christmas on my money this year!
