| | Worth every penny. This is a great workout routine and diet plan that will get you the results that you put into it. It is a commitment to follow this program to the letter, but what is nice about it is that you are constantly reminded to "do your best & forget the rest". When I first did this program with a couple of my buddies last year, we probably pushed it a bit hard. We tried to keep up with the athletes in the videos, even as Tony encouraged us not to. Long story short - ouch. But as our bodies adapted (we're all mid/late 30's) the results come fast. This year we are doing it again and I personally have made it a point to pace myself so that I don't miss workouts because of muscle soreness. With that in mind, the messaging in the videos is quite clear about pace/modify/etc. Tony Horton is the real deal. This product truly is an encyclopedic volume of how to get fit, period. There is great variety to combat boredom, the exercises are focused and effective and flat out, this program is FUN. I look forward to KenpoX every time, it gets you sweating, your muscles working and even challenges balance. This is an informational product, and that is where the value is. It isn't necessary to purchase a bunch of gimmicky crap that will gather dust and be forgotten. There is no macho BS here, simply a world class fitness regimen and diet guide let me say that again "world class fitness regimen". Buy it. | Was this review helpful ? | | I really believe in the POWER 90 products. I have been thrilled about this line for almost 10 years now. The infomercials are powerful! They got me excited, really excited. I started with the regular P90. I followed the exercise plan and worked out every single day. I ate a bit less, but not like they proposed. No matter what, if you exercise with great intensity, vigor and zest, and watch what you eat, you will drop the pounds. I lost 32 pounds in 45 days, so I did not continue for the remaining 45 days. I am over 40 and it was hard for me to get rid of pounds, but it was worth the massive sweat and soreness. My trips to Mexico shortly thereafter and then 8 months later to the Virgin Islands were fabulous because of the work I did with the P90 system. Amazing! You can change your body if you eat less and exercise more. I was so proud of myself. Fast forward to P90X. Yes, it is extreme and good. It took me a little longer to do all of the exercises and I dread keeping track of the weight I use and stopping to write, so I just tried to keep mental notes. Also, I don't care much for the diet plan, the book is pretty, but it is too expensive to eat that way. I would say, make an effort to get rid of the junk in your diet and the massive meat and processed foods and you will still get great results. The Plyometics, tape 2, is so fabulous that you will be so proud of yourself whey you can finish the entire tape. If you are in top notch shape, then just move on. I really enjoyed the challenge. I did not care to do the lengthy YogaX CD. It is just too long. The arm and chest workouts make a difference, you just have to do them. It is a great workout and it takes dedication. I love it when I take my tiny dvd player to the gym and work really hard. I use the 24-hour gym, so this works for me, as there is always an empty room. I also bought the 10-minute trainer and the Power 1/2 hour. Great when you need a break. You really don't need much else when you invest in this line. It addresses all body parts and will work if you work. Tony Horton is a great motivational tool. He will keep you going and you will see results. As time goes on increase your weight and stay true to healthful eating. Best of luck in your efforts. | Was this review helpful ? YES | 10 users found this review helpful

| | I ordered P90X online from beachbody.com. It doesn't require a lot of equipment -- you can do most of it with a yoga mat and resistance bands, or for more intensity you can get a pull-up bar, push-up bars, and various free-weights (I have the type of weights that are adjustable between 5 and 50 pounds by turning a dial -- they work great). The space required is approximately a 10' x 10' area, like a typical living room or bedroom.
The workouts themselves come on a series of DVDs, 12 disks in the set and a schedule that tells you which disk to do on which day. After a while you'll notice that the routines have a specific logic and order, resting one muscle group one day while you work another, alternating cardio with weight training, and so forth.
The weight training days involve push-ups, pull-ups, and weights in a rapid succession. Tony Horton, the instructor, is very good about showing proper form and encouraging you to push a little harder each time. The cardio days involve either plyometrics ("jump training") or cardio kickboxing. Every major muscle group is targeted, and there is also extensive stretching and yoga to keep you limber and flexible.
The workouts last from about 55 minutes to 90 minutes, and average about 75 minutes if you include the excellent abdominal workouts at the end of the weight-training and legs days.
Frankly, the results you will see if you work hard, eat clean (the program includes an extensive diet guide), and follow the routines carefully are phenomenal. There is no magic formula or gimmick here -- you get out of it what you put into it. For those serious about getting into the best shape of their lives, this program will give you great results. | Was this review helpful ? YES | 13 users found this review helpful

| | I purchased the P90X system just over 90 days ago in order to loose weight and gain strength as I turned 50. Surpisingly, I did not loose much weight because I gained a lot of musle and strength. I did not bulk up at all..I but I definitely have more muscle definition, am completely happy with the product, and would recommend it to others. It is a big daily committment, but if a person puts in an hour a day for 90 days...I am sure they will be very happy with the results. To note: I have noticed that individuals who have a lot inches to loose often go through the program 2 times. Finally, there on-line support is very helpful! | Was this review helpful ?
