Eggies

Eggies were designed for people who love to eat hard boiled eggs without the hassle of peeling them.
The way the Eeggies system works as it claimed, is you simply crack the egg into the container, close it and boil them and in no time you will have fresh hard boiled eggs.

My husband often makes pickled eggs and everytime, I see and hear him complaining and struggling to peel the eggs without losing a whole lot of the white (and his temper). So I bought Eggies from K-Mart figuring I could help him out and then I read all of the bad reviews. I was very doubtful after reading the reveiws so I decided to cook only 4 eggs. I used Crisco Oil and liberally coated each Eggie using a paper towel. I cracked an egg into a spouted measuring cup and poured it into an Eggie. No problem at all. After the Eggies were filled, I screwed on the tops and placed into a pot. I put just enough water in the pot to barely float the Eggies. Heated the water until it started to boil, put the lid on the pot, turned heat to low and left it for 15 minutes. I removed the Eggies and let them sit for a short time. They were still quite warm when I started to remove the eggs so I wore rubber gloves. After gentely squeezing the Eggie, the egg slipped out so had very little trouble there. One Eggie did leak a little but not much (the collar may not have been tightened enough). I put the eggies in warm soapy water and they washed up with no problem.
If I had to give one critique, I found it piddlly washing up all the pieces but it still outweighs those hard to peel eggs. So I give Eggies a Thumbs Up!!!!

I don't know what all these other people were doing wrong but the eggies DO work. I followed the instructions to the letter and my eggs came out just fine. My only complaint is that they did stick a little, even though I did using cooking oil.

The plastic threads will not securely keep the eggie from jettisoning the little fill stopper while the egg is boiling. It can't stand the pressure. I wasn't hit by hit, thankfully. The cleanup is excessive compared to the problem the product is advertised to solve. Sorry I bought them.

I have tried the product three times. The first time I scrambled some eggs and put them in. Well I fed them to the dog. Four of them popped open and the fifth looked so horrible I would not eat it. The second time I used them I just did hard boiled eggs. All of them popped open so I just had a mess. Dont waste your money. I am glad that I saved my box as I am bringing them back to the store.

Took some of the above to heart. Rubbed the Eggies down with oil/towel. Left the tops off. Cracked the eggs over a measuring cup, letting the white overflow into the cup, and dropped the yolk (with some white) into the eggie. Did three at a time. With the yolks and some whites in each, put the tops on (tight!). Poured the overflow whites into the eggies, then put in the "plug". Put them in a saucepan with hot water, and placed them on the heat to boil. (Next time, I'll boil the water and then put the eggies in) In about 11 minutes, I had a soft-boiled egg. In 15 minutes, I had a mostly hard boiled egg. In 18 minutes, I had a great hard boiled egg. All three eggs came out well shaped and perfectly usable as deviled eggs. I did notice some white escaped and turned the water frothy, but this often happens when cooking eggs in the shell. I agree that clean up and preparation makes it a bit time-consuming, but I truly enjoy playing in the kitchen. I'll use them again, and would invite anyone to give them a try and play around.

My review is EXACTLY the same as Don from Las Vegas! I wouldn't have changed a word!!! My only saving grace is that it was a Christmas gift - I didn't spend MY money on this piece of CRAP!!!

Don't buy. You will spend more time prepping these, boiling, and cleaning than just old fashioned egg boiling. I bought from as seen retail store, and they will not give me back my money. Terrible product!!!!

I love the infomercials... then after getting the 'shaft' to many times I now look for the reviews. This was going to be purchased to day at a local store that carries this product. No need to buy now. People need to read the reviews so that that can make an informed opinion. Before I log off this web page I will subscribe.

Sure wish I had read these reviews first never again will I not check out a product beforehand, They do not work they leak while cooking, cleanup sucks, and is more work than actually just boiling and peeling an egg. At least a got a free egg seperator with it. Do not buy this crap waste of money and time!

These are terrible! No matter how tight, u lose half the egg in the pot which becomes a huge chore to clean. They leak and pop open, then stick to the inside! I could go on and on but I won't waste me time on! Don't purchase! Huge waste of money!

This is the worst product I have ever purchased...I used them once and had to scrap them out of the eggie even though It had been sprayed with oil...also pan was hard to clean as eggs had leaked out of the eggie....they will go into the trash can....don't be taken in by TV commercials

I wonder why everyone else had so much trouble. Basic, simple steps make these work GREAT. A quick spray with Pam helps them release. You crack the egg into a measuring cup first, then pour it in. The water boils before you put the Eggies in to cook. The best part is that you can add seasonings and other ingredients beforehand. I use EggBeaters hard-boiled eggs for my spinach salad. They slice up easily and taste great. I've used mine at least twice a week since they arrived last month. I have no complaints about Eggies and would recommend the product.

These things are another of the scam TV products I have fallen for as a consumer. The instructions on TV are not like the ones in the box. They are poorly constructed and do not screw tightly, they have to be sprayed with oil and become so slippery I dropped the first two and lost the eggs down the sink. After I finally got them all assembled and in the water, they proceded to open themselves and dump the eggs in the water. What a mess.

Sure wish I would have read these comments before I bought and wasted my money on a set. Ditto to the person who said they through the eggies and the eggs in the trash.

What a mess!!! It is unbelieveable how these product ads can trick people. I agree 100% with Don in Las Vegas's review. My experience exactly.

Short but sweet, you can boil an egg in the shell in less than 10 minutes and the peel will come off just fine if you immediately soak in cold water before peeling. It literally took about 25 minutes of boiling to get the eggs completely cooked. Ugh, what a pain and they are ugly. I would never make deviled eggs out of them and serve them to anyone. Donated to my local thrift store after just one use. If it seems too good to be true, it definitely is!!

Just threw away all of my eggies-including the not-so-free ones. Totally worthless

Don't be fooled. Eggs prepared the 'eggies' way are coddled eggs. The English have been coddling eggs for centuries. The design of Eggies is a total rip-off. Coddlers are the same, but in porcelain, they look nice and clean up better than plastic. And, by the way, coddled eggs taste different than hard boiled.

eggies do seem like a good idea but they are really messy. also you can put six eggs in but only have two come out because they pop open during cooking. the last thing is they take longer to cook and instead of only having to clean a pan you have to clean a total of 24 pieces is you make all the eggies. bottom line they dont work.

EGGIES SUCK !! What a waste of $14 bucks ( I bought them at the “As Seen on TV” store at the mall). First off, each “Eggie” is made in four parts… which means a lot of clutter. Next the famed “non-stick” feature is crap. You have to coat them inside with oil, butter or cooking spray which then makes them “non-stick.” Then you start the assembly and loading process. First you put the top portion onto the bottom. Unfortunately, they are not a good fit and it is a struggle to get them to seat properly. Then you attach the “ring” that hods the two sections together. Next you remove the top cap and dump a raw egg into the “Eggie.” Unfortunately, the hole on top is pretty small and one out of every four yolks were too big to fit through the opening… causing a mess as the egg then ran down the outside of the “Eggie.” Next you put the “Eggies” into boiling water for about 15-minutes… and watch as about half of them let their contents leak out or let water seep in. Then you remove and open the “Eggies” and find distorted, messy hard boiled “uglies” (which would be a better name for this product) – not very appetizing at all. End result: after only one use… I THREW MY “EGGIES” INTO THE GARBAGE…what crap !! I then ordered a vintage electric egg cooker on eBay and have been happily hard boiling eggs ever since. END RESULT: Save your money! Hard boil your eggs in water or buy an electric egg cooker. “Eggies” are simply a poor man-made substitute for the Chicken’s original shell and they represent a lot of work, needless wasted effort and (ugh) they are a total waste of time and money ! EGGIES SUCK !!!

I bought a set in the store and tested them out. Their performance is worse then a 2 year olds. I followed the directions and the pods kept popping open. I ended up with poached eggs rather then hard boiled. There is far too much preparation needed before you use them. Now if they actually worked like they did on TV then things would be better, but they don't show how long it takes to set things up. You have to grease every little nook that will be exposed to the egg or they stick inside. In total a task that takes 15 to 20 minutes suddenly turns into a task that takes as much as a half hour and possibly longer. Don't buy this crap. I don't know why they make peeling an egg sound like brain surgery, they have to be real serous idiots if they find the task that hard. Save you money and pass this piece crap by.

it was a mess. all the white came out of the egg, yes everything was tight. it took a long time for the eggs to actually cook. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE TIME OR THE MONEY!

THIS PRODUCT HAS A GREAT IDEA, BUT CAUSES ONE TO TAKE THREE TIMES AS LONG TO MAKE HARD BOILED EGGS AS OUR PRESENT METHOD. PAIN IN THE BUTT TO FILL, PAIN IN THE BUTT TO LUBRCATE, PAIN IN THE BUT ASSEMBLING, PAIN IN THE BUTT TAKING APART AND CLEANING. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, PAIN IN THE BUTT MAKING HARD BOILED EGGS.

I received my eggies two months after ordering due to back orders. It was a spontaneous purchase, I was taken in by the TV ad. It looked like a fun product, and I love kitchen gadgets and I don’t like peeling hard boiled eggs. I’ve purchased a lot of kitchen gadgets over the years, some worked and some didn’t. Bottom line Eggies work, but not without more work that peeling the egg out of the shell. Where they excel is when you can add stuff to the egg before boiling. I did an experiment with them, I made two regular hard boiled eggs, one just whites, one just yokes, one scrambled plain and one scrambled with cheese and spices. I followed the direction exactly. Here are my results. The two regular hard boiled eggs came out fine, although they did stick to the eggies and needed a little help to release. The instructions said to oil the inside which I did, which makes handling them a little slippery, but they stuck anyway, I used a knife to scrape around the edge of the egg and it popped out. The white only egg needed more time to cook that the instructions said, I wound up cooking them a full 15 minutes. The all yoke egg popped open while cooking, I may have filled the Eggie too much. The scrambled eggs both with and without added ingredients came out very good. This is how I will use my eggies. One suggestion, crack the egg into a measuring cup with a spout, then pour the egg into the Eggie. It’s difficult to get the whole egg in the little hole in the top straight from the shell. The spout makes pouring the egg easier. Scrambling and adding other ingredients is easier to do in a cup too. Like most gadgets I purchase I’ll use them a lot at first, then they’ll be put away and I’ll take them out occasionally. So it looks like my family will be eating a lot of eggs in the next few week while I play with my Eggies.
